Garlic - Nature's Antibiotic and It's Uses

Garlic has long been known and used for its medicinal properties, the main one being as an Antibiotic.  Garlic contains crazy amounts of Allicin, which is formed when garlic cloves are crushed, and which is what gives garlic its distinctive odor.

Allicin is known to be a pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antiviral, antibacterial, and antiseptic agent. Allicin also is nature's "anti-pest" defense mechanism that keeps pests away from the plant as it grows. That is why we are told to keep garlic hanging in our house or to eat garlic or take garlic oil or supplements to ward off mosquitoes and other pests in our homes and on our person.

Using Garlic for almost any ailment that requires an Antibiotic is wise.  Especially considering the dangers and multiple side-effects of using synthetic prescription Antibiotic from doctors. You cannot overdose with garlic! :)  I also recognize there may be times that a quick and fast 'cure' is needed under serious conditions and a prescribed Antibiotic can fill that need.  However, by and large, that is not the case, and if we are willing to listen to nature and be patient, as nature requires many times, we will reap the benefits of using garlic in place of prescription meds.

So here are some great remedies that come from using garlic.  And just think of the $$$ it will save you!  But Shhhh!  Don't tell our federal government, or they may outlaw garlic or find another way to make it incredibly hard to get to, simply because they want to be in control, they don't trust you to be smart enough to learn about natural healing (and so many other things), and because they want to make all the money and keep you under thumb!  Ok, enough of sarcasm and politics. That's for my other blog.  ;-)

** NOTE:  Using fresh garlic is best if you want potency. One can always just take garlic gelcaps, and it can still work, but not as well and not as fast, and depending on what all is in it and how it's made, you would need to take a lot more.  Fresh is best. :-)

TOOTH ACHE
An old Indian remedy

- 2 fresh garlic cloves

- a few drops of virgin, cold-pressed olive oil (if needed)

* add ingredients together and mash them into a paste.
* apply paste to affected tooth and gum surrounding it and hold for 30 min.

Pain should be subside with to continued use. You can do this up to four times a day. If the pain isn't gone in about a week, you should probably see your dentist then, because something deeper or more serious could be going on.

ANTIBIOTIC

Nature offers us several antibiotic herbs. Some of these include garlic, echinacea, tea tree oil, oregano oil, goldenseal, myrrh, raw honey, colloidal silver, and others.  Here is a recipe for the antibiotic that I make and keep in our home round-the-clock.  Because its main ingredient is garlic, and because nothing lives in garlic (because of its 'anti-pest' properties), you do not have to refrigerated it. However, I do refrigerate it, just because it makes me feel better.  Call me crazy.

- 1/2 C honey
- 16 Cloves mashed garlic (yes, 16 cloves!)
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
-Mix and blend until it's the consistency of apple sauce.
-Dispense 1/2 tsp at a time, drizzling down back of throat, every 30-60 minutes for 1-2 days.
